Philanthropy For Climate Without Borders: Regional Commitments to Collaborative Action
Local climate philanthropy ecosystems are crucial in the fight against climate change, accelerating mitigation and adaptation measures in their respective regions and in partnership with different actors, including government and civil society. The global #PhilanthropyForClimate movement is rapidly expanding in the Global South, with philanthropic networks in the Arab Region, South Africa, across Latin America, and the Caribbean Islands encouraging and supporting the adoption of intersectional, contextually informed climate action by the local philanthropic community.
This session will bring together a diverse group of philanthropy organisations leading climate action in various Majority World regions. Participants will discuss what is currently being done in their areas of focus, where more effort is needed to scale successful initiatives, where they are seeing progress, and the challenges they face. The goal is to identify new opportunities for collaboration, emphasising the potential of partnerships across different realities and geographies as key drivers of impactful climate action.
